ABOUT WENDY SELIGSON 

Overview

Wendy Seligson is a seasoned, results-oriented professional with over twenty years’ experience in senior executive and chief operating officer roles in New York City nonprofits.  

 

Skilled at managing change, Wendy has led complex nonprofits through rapid growth, shifting government funding, new business development and business model changes.  

 

She combines her talent at organizational planning, understanding of values-driven programming and financial acumen to assist nonprofits in achieving goals that are both ambitious and realistic.  

 

Experience

As the Associate Executive Director at the 14th Street Y from 2007 to 2015, Wendy managed a complex multi-service organization through a period of rapid growth, doubling the program size and revenue over five years. Through hands on leadership, she successfully led the Y in revamping programs, staffing and systems, business and financial planning, developing infrastructure and managing risk enabling the Y to thrive. She is particularly proud of her work building high functioning teams as well as mentoring and developing talented middle-managers to achieve these results.

 

Prior to her work at the 14th Street Y, Wendy was the Vice President of Administration at the Fortune Society, providing housing, employment and other services to formerly incarcerated men and women. While at Fortune, Wendy developed systems for managing the complex government contracts and grants funding Fortune’s programs and established metrics for tracking program performance and success.

 

A lawyer with a JD from New York University School of Law and an undergraduate degree from Duke University, Wendy practiced commercial real estate law before moving to the nonprofit sector. She began her nonprofit career working with housing organizations, including a large South Bronx community development corporation, and consulting with a number of supportive housing organizations.
